Pt. Nagesh Dutt Mishra (1888-1953) was born at Bhenbhaura in Pratapgarh, U.P. to Pt. Brijmohan Mishra, an orthodox Brahmin. Pt.Nagesh Dutt inherited some of his father’s qualities belonging to the line of Sanskrit Scholars. He was sent to Varanasi in the quest for enlightenment Sanskrit Vangmay.
At the Insistence of the then Raja of Dhingvas, he joined the Sanskrit Pathshala there, devoting himself to teaching. His zeal knew no bounds and he was so deeply involved that he used to teach even on the way from and to the Pathshala. He was a true Guru. His significant contribution soon gained acclaim.
Through sheer force of ‘ Simple living and high thinking’ personality-clad in white dhoti, mirjai and turban, complete with chandan on his radiant forehead-he became a familiar sight. He carved a place for himself among his students.
A gentle, modest and benevolent soul, Pandit Ji under took the task of revitalizing the struggling students. His indefatigable spirit helped overcome all odds and he never looked back. Great and rapid strides made in all spheres led Pandit Ji to be acknowledged as a shrine of Sanskrit knowledge. In humanities, there emerged from his precincts none other than the great saint and scholar Swami Karpatri Ji Maharaj, he being one of his illustrious luminaries in the field.
An eminent Guru, Pandit Ji encouraged many young talents. At the same time he was equally devoted to social causes. He guided his disciples from darkness to light; from unconsciousness to consciousness.
Pt. Nagesh Dutt Public School is an attempt to keep that flame of light burning.
